Short-term substitute teacher licenses are now available in the state of Illinois until June 2023. Short-term sub licenses may be issued to individuals who hold an Associate’s degree or higher from a regionally accredited institution of higher education or show completion of 60 semester hours of coursework. This training fulfills the statutory requirement that all short-term substitute teachers complete a training program that provides information on curriculum, classroom management.
Audience - Individuals who hold an Associate’s degree OR
show completion of 60 semester hours of coursework.

This week, we are happy to feature Sherrie Pistole, who serves as the bookkeeper at ROE 47. Sherrie’s favorite thing about working at ROE 47 is her co-workers. In her free time, Sherrie enjoys shopping and watching her grandkids.

The Education Pathway program is excited to kick off another year with our area partnering schools. This week we are happy to feature Amboy High School and the work they are doing to promote career exploration!
Amboy Schools will be hosting a college & career fair on October 18th from 8:00-11:30am at Amboy High School. The goal is to give students an idea of the careers available in the area and possible job opportunities out there after (or before) graduation as well as colleges that they could choose to attend.

This week, we are featuring Deb Foust, Homeless Liaison for Area 2. When asked what is her favorite thing about working for ROE 47, Deb said “I greatly enjoy trying to make a difference in the lives of the students and families that we work with”. She enjoys working at the local church food pantry as it keeps her connected with people in the area. Deb lives in the rural community of Shannon and loves country life. She enjoys being outside and spending time with her new granddaughter. Deb is excited about attending the National Homeless Conference, which will be held in November in Atlanta.

Last week, students, staff and community members helped move in Amboy Junior High School to the new building! This has been an exciting and exhausting time for the staff at AJHS, but they are excited to see what the new school year has in store for them!

Fulton High School hopes to have 4 students graduating with an endorsement in the education pathway at the end of the 21-22 school year.
Students will also be rotating classrooms as they work through their 60 hour experience component. This will give them the opportunity to experience working with different ages of students.
