PARENTS AS TEACHERS FIRST YEARS
Parents as Teachers First Years is a home-based parent education and family support program for families in Lee, Ogle, and Whiteside Counties with children ages birth to three. Some families may also be eligible for services prenatally. Families must meet eligibility guidelines as determined through a screening process. The program offers weekly home visits, group connection and parent/child interaction activities, developmental screenings, assistance in developing family goals and connecting to community resources.

Parent Resource and Toy Lending Libraries
Services are also offered in Spanish.
PROGRAM MISSION STATEMENT
The program’s mission statement, developed in collaboration with parents, families, staff members, and community representatives based on shared beliefs is as follows:
All prenatal and birth- to three-year-old children who are enrolled in the Parents as Teachers First Years program will experience healthy and supportive environments that will lead to age-appropriate development, school success, and social competence.
Parents as Teachers First Years will provide the information, support and encouragement parents need to help their children develop optimally during the early years in life. Parents as Teachers First Years will encourage loving, stable, and nurturing family relationships that promote good health, age-appropriate physical, emotional, and cognitive development, and positive social interactions in the home and community system.
